WELCOME TO Ginninderra press

The Ginninderra Press Story

Established in 1996, Ginninderra Press is an intrinsically Australian and proudly independent publisher. Its esteemed founder, Stephen Matthews OAM passed away in September 2024 after a long illness, but his legacy lives on under the stewardship of close friend and publishing veteran, Debbie Lee.

Ginninderra is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘throwing out little rays of light’.

Originating in Canberra’s Belconnen area, Ginninderra Press relocated to Port Adelaide in 2008 where it operated until the changing of hands. Now Melbourne-based, Ginninderra Press continues to provide opportunities for both emerging and experienced authors. The list is historically rich and eclectic, and boasts many award-winning titles across poetry, novella, anthology, memoir, Australiana, fiction and non-fiction.

All our books are now available via print on demand, to a worldwide retail and library market. Ebook editions of many of our titles are also available worldwide through online vendors.

It is indeed our mission to build a list that illuminates, with each new title casting its own little ray of light.
